55 Million Pictures Saved Before AI Existed

Welcome to my home server, located in Tijuana, Mexico.

I am a programmer, photographer, and digital preservation enthusiast. This archive is a personal project that I started during the COVID years, when the world felt unstable and it seemed like the internet, as we knew it, could disappear at any moment.

At that time, I wanted to preserve something that I considered part of modern visual culture: adult erotic photography, artistic nude photography, and rare photo collections that were slowly disappearing from the internet.

Why does this archive matter now?

Today, when AI has changed the internet, it has become increasingly difficult to find photographs that were not AI-generated, heavily edited, filtered, or modified with masks and beauty filters.

My archive contains real photographic material collected from the pre-AI era, covering a long period from approximately 2001 to 2020.

That makes the collection especially valuable today, because authentic, pre-AI visual material is becoming harder and harder to find online.

What is this archive?

This is a large private photo archive containing approximately 55,736,594 photos.

The archive takes up around 55 TB of storage space.

Most of the collection was gathered between 2021 and 2023, although many of the photos themselves are much older.

55 TB Total archive size
55,736,594 Photos preserved
7,213,071 Flickr photos archived
2001–2020 Pre-AI photo era

Why did I create this archive?

During COVID, it felt like the world could collapse at any moment. The internet seemed fragile, many websites were disappearing, and a lot of old content was already becoming impossible to find.

I decided to collect and preserve a large visual archive so that rare adult, erotic, and artistic nude photography would not be lost forever.

At the time, I did not know that AI would soon become so important, or that real, non-AI-generated photos would become increasingly rare and valuable.

Why is the archive valuable today?

Today, many images online are AI-generated, edited, filtered, or modified. Because of that, authentic pre-AI photographs have become more valuable.

A large collection of real photographs can be useful for collectors, archivists, researchers, and developers working with visual datasets, provided that all usage follows applicable laws, copyright rules, platform rules, age-verification requirements, and consent standards.

How is the archive organized?

The archive is divided into three main categories:

1. Pics

These are photos that are already extracted and organized into folders. They are easy to browse and view directly.

2. Zips

These are photo collections stored inside ZIP files. In general, the content is similar to the Pics section, but the files are still packed into archives. They are also easy to open and browse.

3. Flickr

This is a special part of the archive collected from Flickr-related albums, favorites, and public photo collections that existed before major platform policy changes affected adult content.

What can be found in the archive?

The archive contains a mix of adult, erotic, artistic nude, amateur-style, private-style, and professional photography.

Some collections come from websites that were online many years ago — for example, in 2001, 2005, 2008, and later — but have long since disappeared from the internet.

Many of those websites no longer exist, and their content is no longer publicly available online. In many cases, the material may now survive only in private collections and archives.

In short, this archive is a mix of amateur-style, private-style, and professional photography, mostly from the period between 2013 and 2018, with some older material as well.

The value of the archive is not only in its size, but also in the fact that much of this material is difficult or impossible to find today.

What is special about the Flickr section?

Flickr was once a major photo-sharing platform where people uploaded all kinds of photography, including adult, erotic, and artistic nude content.

After major platform policy changes, a large amount of adult content was removed or became unavailable.

I preserved approximately 7,213,071 photos from Flickr-related collections.

This section may also contain around 5% non-erotic photography, which actually makes browsing it more interesting, because many albums include favorites, personal collections, travel photos, portraits, and unusual visual material.

Where did the other photos come from?

The other parts of the archive were collected from forums, clubs, torrent communities, photo-sharing spaces, and websites that were active at the time.

Many of those sources have since disappeared, been deleted, gone offline, or become inaccessible.

Because of deleted websites, abandoned communities, internet disruptions, destroyed hardware, and lost personal collections, a significant part of this material may no longer be available anywhere else.

This is why I consider the archive not just a collection, but also a digital preservation project from an earlier internet era.

People who appreciate erotic, nude, and artistic photography may enjoy browsing a large historical collection.

Archivists and digital preservation enthusiasts

Developers working with lawful adult-content AI, nude-image research, or visual datasets may find the archive useful, as long as their work follows all legal, ethical, copyright, and consent requirements.
